Unhappy 93 Lumina Euro problems

Hi. Last summer I got my Lumina Euro for free from a friend of the family. I replaced the fuel filter last summer, the battery last winter and the "computer" last fall. I also replaced all four tires in May, (but had a blow out last week).

I know there are problems with the struts and the air conditioner doesn't work. Last night however, I was driving and my car just stalled while driving (luckily while slowing down to 20mph to make a sharp turn!) I heard this could be the alternator? While I was driving it, every time I tapped the breaks, the head lights would switch off for half a second and come back on, and the battery light (sensor) kept blinking on and off while I was driving... Other than those problems the other few big ones are:

sometimes when i stop at a light, my car will randomly stall
the check engine light comes on all the time randomly
when i let my car slow itself down from 50 to 40 mph it will buck

thank you for your time i'm going to take it in for service soon but any help/advice is useful!

My son had a 93 Euro with the 3.4 DOHC motor. He had a lot of trouble with what is called “phantom stalling” with the car. New fuel injectors from a later model car finally fixed the problem after we replaced virtually every sensor on the car! Your problem sounds like alternator. That is a real challenge to replace due to the fact that it is wedged between the firewall and the exhaust manifold. I saw a comment about this car on another web site that is devoted to these cars. It said that you must enjoy working on cars to own one of these 3.4 DOHC motors. My son finally sold his. Good luck in finding the problem.
