Squeak where driveshaft meets trans.
I have a 98 s-10 manual 5spead with a 2.2.
The other day a squeak started at low speeds (1st and 2nd gear) and then it becomes undetectable. I narrowed it down to being where the drive shaft meets the transmission. I’m pretty sure its not the u joints. Any suggestions before I start dismantling things? |

if i remember correctly (dont qutoe me) theres a bushing in the tail shaft housing on the trans , see if you can stick some grease on that bushing (pull out the drive shaft) , make sure to check the yokes for abnormal wear of any kind , and replace any that may have been worn , worst case scenario - you may end up having to replace the tail shaft , but the bushing might just be able to be pulled out with out even taking it off , or graseing it may do the trick , good luck

I have the removed the 2 u-joint strap bolts but i can't seem to figure out how to get the driveshaft off the back. Do i need to take the bearing caps off or what?
