2000 Jimmy Intermittent Stall at stops

I'm working on a 2000 Jimmy with 90k miles and racking my brain here.

The customer states that it has stalled numerous times when coming to a stop. This only happens after a pretty good period of driving. The vehicle starts back up immediately after with no problems, and when it does occur, it usually will happen a couple times if it happens at all on a given day.

We have not been able to duplicate the concern. Here's the thing :

1) It has the infamous P0410 code for AIR pump. The customer refuses to fix that problem, and I think that it may be hindering codes from being recorded that may be helpful. But, anyhow, I don't think that by itself has alot to do with it.

2) We have installed the Vehicle Data Recorer to record when the fault occurs, but like I said we can't get it to do it and---> The customer doesn't want it back until it is fixed.

3) There are no other codes except the one above, and all data seems to be accurate and within parameters.

4) We have done numerous tests including a O2 Sensor tests, EGR performance, fuel pump amperage draw test, etc.

5) We have changed fuel filter, cap and rotor, plugs, wires, and Throttle Position Sensor (code from a while ago). We have done all the work to the vehicle from day 1, with no extravagant repairs made or needed.

6) It has no remote start system, no aftermarket electronics or add-ons, etc.

Without letting me know that we need to tell the customer to take a flying leap until they get the AIR system repaired, does anyone have any ideas??

I don't know how much help I can be, but...... maybe you should ask the customer if:

1. they noticed the security light come on when it happened.

2. it happens while low on fuel.

3. it dies suddenly as though switched off or stumbles roughly before stalling.

4. they've lost radio presets or the clock setting.

5. they've seen their gauges act strangely

A couple ideas:

1. failing oil pressure switch.

2. I've seen a split pulsator give similar symptoms, but that should have shown up when you did the fuel pressure test.

3. Does it have an aftermarket battery? I read in the Blazer forum that some aftermarket batteries won't allow the stud to thread all the way in, causing it to lose connection occasionally.

4. Ignition switch failures are pretty common, they can cause intermittent stalling.

Been running the 0410 code for a couple of years on and off, other codes still registered ok.
Recently changed the fuel pump and made the mistake of putting a rebuilt one from local store on. When the fuel level got below 1/4 tank, it would stall anytime I stopped at a light. I did get the low pressure code occassionally when it was doing this.
Greater than 1/4 tank, it never missed a lick! New pump cleared this up.
Don't know if you have run it with the tank level low. Might get lucky.
