93 Ex Can 4door Vtec or no??

Ok guys, my friend has a CANADIAN 4door civic EX 93 nad it says D15B7 on the engine. But he kkeps beating me on the strip until the third gear. We are even till then but his motor seems to have more power at high peak. It may not be a precise observation but since i have a CANADIAN 94 HB CX, I thought I would be in front of him not by much but still. So his motor doesn't say D16Z6 like the SOHC Vtec motor it's supposed to be. What the hell is going on??? Any explanation would be great !

Horn out.

His motor is SOHC VTEC if it is an EX ... If it says D15B7 then it is doesn't have VTEC ... but D15B7's come in DX and LX ... but still your D15B8 has 70hp while his D15B7 has 102hp ...

Nono, That's why he said CANADIAN Ex. The Canadian Ex is equivalent to our LX. He's got a 1.5L SOHC 16v non-Vtec making 102hp. He's got better top end cause he has twice as many valves per cylinder as you and makes more horsepower.

OK ... I didn't know that ... my mistake ...
So is the US CX and the Canadian CX equivalent or do I have 50hp instead of the US 70hp??

That's it!!! It's the reason why I don't understand anything of that.
So I wonder if the trend of Honda is not always accurate. I mean his acar has all the features of an EX ... power all, cruise, etc. But its motor is a D15B7 , isn't the LX canadian that have this motor? Well .. its been 2 years since we dont understand anything and we will problably stay that way.

Thanx anyway Rice.

The EX canadian is the Lx american so yeah it should have the D15B7 and all the power features with it. But the Cx shouldn't have a D15B7. You can't get any lower in the trim line, so the Cx should have the D15B8. Are you sure someone didn't swap it out in the past?

I can't be 100% sure but I know the last owner bought it new in 94 so I supposed it's wasn't swapped.

So, can we supposed than canadian honda civic cx did have D15B7 just the same has dx, the only difference being the interior package? I mean, maybe canadian civic dond have any 70hp engines, only 100hp ones! I'm not talking about the Si here.

Maybe we can do a little survey of the people having canadian civic to tell us what engine codes and trend their civics is!

I think I'll just do that in the candian forum.

I got some info and I'm pretty sure now that canadian civic DO NOT have any 70hp motor (D15B8) so any civic come at least with a D15B7. The oly difference between CX and DX is the interior package. The same goes for the LX and EX. The only EX thats had VTEC was the EX-V and was produced only one year, but I don't know which exactly.

Though, I see only one explanation for my friend going faster than me in his EX and me in my CX. He is a better driver than me. Cause I'm supposed to be way lighter than him and having the same motor. I think that probably summed it all. Maybe I was afraid to face it, he drives better than me !!!!
