Question Door Lock Programing

Does anyone know if the 2005 Accord SE can be programed so that the doors lock when the car is put into drive ?? My otherr vehicles do this an I thought this one would also but I'm not sure and it seems like it is a safer option to have when children are in the car.I love the car but hate a few small details like the doors locking and no automatic head lights.

Thanks

Re: Door Lock Programing

Actually I HATE that feature in other cars I've driven!

I have to say that it's a pretty poor way of keeping kids safe. My 2-year-old grandson knows how to unlock the door. For that reason, I always use the childproof locks. With those, you don't need automatic locking.

I hear you fitit. I wish that my door on my 2005 EX would unlock when you pull the inside door handle. I did ask and the dealer about it and they told me there is nothing I could do.

That defeats 50% of the reason for the locks - disconnecting the inside door handles so they don't get operated by mistake!

Actually, the locks are not really locks at all. All they do is disable the inside and outside handles.

Re: Door Lock Programing

Well that is what child safety locks are for. Never the less all the other cars I have owned had inside door handles that you could unlock the door and I never had that problem.

Re: Door Lock Programing

Yeah - but with the child safely lock on, you can't open the door from inside AT ALL! Not quite the same thing.

I don't know what cars you've owned, but all the ones I've owned or driven (in the last 20 yers), either with a locking button at the top of the door panel (where the Accord's is), including several 80's GMs, or a "flap" type lock adjacent to the door handle itself, NEVER allowed you to just yank on the door handle and the door would unlock.

The point of the question was missed,I wanted to know if the automatic locks could be programed to lock when the car is put into gear and unlock when the car is put into park.I know all about the child proof locks and thats not what I was asking about.
