Seat Belt Doesn't Lock

Not much more then that. Drivers side doesn't lock up at all. Passenger side has a pain in the butt time getting it out to even put it on and doesn't lock up. How do I go about fixing it? Can a regular mechanic fix it or only dealer? And have an idea at price?

Re: Seat Belt Doesn't Lock

Your replacing the locking mechanism portion. You pull off the tab , unbolt it and put the new one on.

Re: Seat Belt Doesn't Lock

Just like the mod said, in a 3rd gen it dosen't take long at all. And from what the mod said it sounds like it's pretty well the same.

Re: Seat Belt Doesn't Lock

There was a recall for the ratcheting mechanism to be replaced and the rear seat belts. Unfortunately no recalls covered the last remaining piece being the receivers, go figure. TSB maybe.

Re: Seat Belt Doesn't Lock

I don't think you'll get much luck through the 'zone. Best bet is a boneyard, if your honest a pay for 'em it's the cheapest, otherwise, they fit nicely underneth a tool tray in your box.

Re: Seat Belt Doesn't Lock

sorry, clarified:

I don't think you can buy them at autozone.

A 'junk' yard is the cheapest route to buy them, any 4th gen. camaro or firebird should work.

Me personally, some of the prices they charge are a rip off, so I have no problem smuggling out a piece or two if it's small enough.

Example, they charged $12 (50% off day so normally $24) for a air filter box, just a piece of plastic and wanted $80 for used MAF sensor ($120 new at the store). So sense the MAF conveniently fit in the air filter box, I "accidently" forgot to take the MAF out at check out. oops
