DC Sports/O2 Sensor Install
Okay, i searched the forum as best i could but it wouldnt let me search for o2 sensor and i couldnt find the info i was looking for. i needed to know if anyone else had installed these on their Accord (mine is a 1996 LX) and had a problem with there being nowhere for the front O2 sensor (the one at the header not the one at the cat) to hook up to? i was thinking about just machining a hold in the header where the o2 sensor used to hook up to the factory header, does that sound like a good idea? thanks

Re: DC Sports/O2 Sensor Install
If I understand what you are saying correctly, I think normally you drill it out, then weld on a nut or fitting for it to thread into. The maniflod itself isn't very thick, and you'd be creating a stress point for it to start cracking from if you threaded straight into it.

Re: DC Sports/O2 Sensor Install
I have 00 Accord with OBX-R headers, and it does come with O2 Sensor position, except for the harness extention to the bottom of the car. I ended up cutting up highquality heat sheild wires and ran a line down there. It works fine and plus I even passed smog check with out the CARB code on the headers (lucky.)
As far as DC's headers, they claimed that they are street legal, so I assumed that it should come with O2 position. What is the model of your header? I might be able to look it up.

im not sure on the exact model #, but they are the 4-2-1 design for 94-97 Accord LX/DX models...i thought that DC Sports headers came with the o2 sensor positioning also since like you said they are supposed to be street legal in all 50 states...i got these off ebay so im not gonna install them yet just in case they arent really DC Sports
also, i checked DC Sports website and they said that they relocate the o2 sensor to the "collector area" or "collector pipe" and that this may require the o2 extension that i would have to purchase...but my muffler guy said that this would still require drilling so he recommended not even worrying about the relocation Last edited by deebo424; 02-15-2005 at 01:15 PM. |

Re: DC Sports/O2 Sensor Install
I went on ebay and looked around and found 2 different DC headers for your Accord.
One is this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33631 The O2 sensor for this one is basically on the side of the header (indicated on the pic) but it looks like it was covered with a nut of some sort. If you have this header, try taking out the bolt with a wrench. You should be able to stick O2 sensor in there afterward. Two: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33631 If you look carefully on the second pic of this ebay item (the on that has header on a box) Right in the middle of the pic is where the O2 sensor should go. As for this one you have to run a set of wires there. I would recommend getting a harness instead of cutting the stock harness (which I did and now 2yrs later I'm getting O2 sensor malfunction eventhough O2 sensor is working fine.)

Thanks for all the help StealthSonic, my headers were at home while i was at college, so i went home to inspect them further and the O2 sensor will fit right in the collector pipe, its already drilled for it there and all i needed was an extension hose for the sensor which my muffler guy had, so all is well...Thanks again
