No electrical power...

Hello I'm new in the forum and my 1995 Windstar when i open the door the dome lights will not work. Key in the switch and no electrical power, no gauges, no radio, nada!!! like a dead battery but with voltmeter battery reads 12.8 volts. Any ideas... Thanks...

Re: No electrical power...

Does the vehicle start? Sounds like a bad fuse. Check the power box under the hood first, pull each fuse and check for corrosion, use a multimeter to read resistance. If it isn't shorted (less than 100 ohms) then it's bad.

Also, check the battery connection, remove corrosion, ensure good contact between cables and battery posts.

After your reply i went back to check the battery connection and after removing the battery cables found corrosion around the battery posts. I removed the corrosion and removed dirt inside the battery cable terminals and problem fixed!!!. Thanks for the help!!!
