Whats faster?? 01 accord or 93 civic

i have a 2001 accord LX v-tec and a 93 civic EX non v-tec. Iam working on my civic and all i have done is a CAI and new Bosch spark plugs. i usually drive my civic but i recently drove the accord and i noticed a loss of power when i went from the civic to the accord. if I'm not mistaken the accord w/v-tec is supposed to be faster than the civic...right??

P.S. they are both sedans

if your civic is indeed the EX, than it should be V-TEC, unless u swapped it out for the non vetc....... the way u can tell if to look at the top left corner of your valve cover, there you should see a little metal solinoid, thats your VTEC solinoid.

ok i checked and it is a vtec but that still doesn't explain why the civic is faster...

You feel more power on your civic because civic is a lot lighter. I can't remember exact weight differences, but consider Accord LX's engine isn't that much stronger (150hp compares to civic's 125hp) there's no doubt the civic will feel faster.

Re: Whats faster?? 01 accord or 93 civic

if the accord is a v-6 u should feel alot more torque out of it then in your civic but the weight difference is a huge deal and the v-6 has a greater rotational mass tehn an inline 4 does but im pretty sure the accord is faster then ur sohc but mayb u should take them to the track. also ifon is manual and the other is automatic that might make a difference too

Re: Whats faster?? 01 accord or 93 civic

i know for a fact that the v6 accord will take your civic EX, a 4banger accord might have to advance his timing all the way simply because he weighs about 400 pounds more. the new altima 2.5 liter is faster than ur civic EX.. im not sure about the 2.2 liter accord vtec, but im sure they would be about neck and neck. the accord has a more consistant powerband and way more torque. the civic only has 125 horsepower at like 7k rpm, so you are really at like 100 hp for more of the race than anything, and the accords torque and flatter powerband might actually put it ahead of ur civic. and yes my runon sentences suck today. sorry
