colouring interior general info please:o

I'm new to the whole honda scene visavi the purchase of a 2000 honda civic ex coupe in white. I've only recently become interested in modding my baby as well...

I'm interested in modding my interior colour... i have the charcoal cloth bucket seating, and i like that so i'm keeping it stock, but i'm thinking about painting/colouring the plastic interior, dash, shifter, steering wheel, etc.

can i paint myself with something? do i have to go to adetail shop to get it done, how much would it run me, depending on what i get...

whoever out there is knowledgeable about these things, please give me a brief run down of expectations and costs... i'll respond to your questions as you ask them

I don't know about your shifter or steering wheel, but I know you can paint your interior plastic pieces. All you need is a coat of primer, a can of Krylon latex spray paint, and clear coat. You need to remove your interior pieces, put on a coat (maybe a couple) of primer, let it sit for a couple hours, then put on a couple coats of paint (make sure you let the first coat dry before you put on the second), then when that dries put on a coat of clear. Its not as easy as it sounds though, it takes a lot of patience to do it. Also when spray painting the pieces, make sure you spray from far away, or else you'll get goops or puddles of paint on your pieces. Make sure you put on an equal layer on them. Hope this helps.

now how do i go about taking these pieces out of my car???

most of them just pop out, so kind of pry around with a flathead screwdriver. But make sure not to snap the pieces though. You should also pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual. I don't know which one's better, but there are other threads you can search that tell you.

Haynes And Chilton are the same books, pick up a Helms Manual, its expensive but well worth it. Most peices should just pop out, and hes got the method down right, so i want re-iterate.
