rear bracket mount
Hey sup guys. I just bolted my b16 today and the rear bracket was a pain. I can't get it to line up with the tranny bolt! So i thought i'd take it off and bolt the motor on first then put the bracket on later. I tried it but it seems like i have to take out the motor again
Is there any other way to do install it without takin out my motor??

Yeah, it is a real pain in the arse. Have the bracket loosely bolted to the block and trans and then try dropping it in. I had a friend and my brother help me line the damn thing up. It took us a couple tries but we finally got it.

yeah, we dropped the motor in loosely and put a jack underneath it (with a piece of mdf in between) so we could control the motor a little better and get the bracket on.

Dont take it out, leave it in the engine bay. Assuming its still suspended in by the cherry picker, use a jack from underneath to make vertical adjustments. With 2 people it shouldnt be that bad. How is your front mount bracket fitting? Your kit use it? mine didnt and we had to cut it out.

you should have prepared the wiring harness before you put it on, just because most of the plugs are in the back. The vtec solenoid itself is right in front of you, so that isn't hard to wire. It's the oil pressure sensor and knock sensor you need to worry about. I'm assuming you have an si.

rear mount
Just replying to the previous statements about the rear mount.. On mine i just jammed it in there.. i had to take the frame mount off and put it on the bracket mount but i got it in.. however it dint line up with the bolts on the frame ne more but.. Thats not the point haha lol i managed to pound it in
but only if that frame mount is off its easyer when u ahve the motor in the car if u install the motor With out the rear mount or frame mount then add them on after the motor is in i have a civic it may be different on Integras but i have to modifie now.. one of my 3 mounts on a gsr mount.. 2 an si mount and D a DX mount so the GSR mount is the only one that will line up with the motor and the frame. but i have to notch it.. all 4 corners and it has to be cut an inch and new holes drilled then notch it aboutn and inch in the bottom takeing most of the bottome box pice out so the frame moutn can fit in.. another possible problem would be the frame mount is to wide for the Gsr mount simply take out the part that is in the way of the mount.. there will be a weakening in structure but that mount dosnt nessisarly support the motor.. it just keeps it from twisting as much It makes it a little easyer than the alternative.. wich is redrill and relocate the holes on the crosmember.. wich on my car appeared to be impossible since the crossmember is formed around the mount so u move it over.. one bolt bolds in the air and the other to are uneven ebcause of the indentation from where the factory mount location This is all i can say for mounting for now |
