Re: skyline or the supra??

well...
it totally depends on several things:
skyline: will cost more, less accessories, right hand drive (ever try to shift w/ your left hand?), AWD (only on R34) hard to work on, can still get a 2004
supra: the exact opposite of everything up there

i would go with a supra myself, just for the price issue

Re: skyline or the supra??

The R34 was discontinued half way through 2001. If you buy a 2001.5 or newer skyline, you get a "V35" which is no different than an Infiniti G35 over here. And yes, that means there are skyline coupes and sedans. And yes, that also means that the all wheel drive skyline is available only in an automatic (w/ tiptronic) sedan after 2001.5 model-years.

Go with an MKIV supra. The money you save on buying that instead of an R34 will make the supra much faster than it is from the stock form. Plus Toyota > Nissan

can u afford a skyline? it does cost mucho money.

if u are rich, then i would say to buy the supra

since it is a lot cheaper and with the leftover money

u can make it even faster than the stock skyline

I'm pretty sure AWD is on the R33 and R32. It's just on the GTR models.

you should really ask this in the car comparison forums since most supra owners knows nothing about GT-R's. all GT-R's from 89-2003 are AWD. and its nothing like the EVO's or WRX's AWD where it's always on. its has a clutch type active center differential that only sends power to the front wheels when needed. and it becomes 100% RWD when your going straight at high speeds since power is not needed to power front wheels in that case. therefore on street tires the GT-R will always out gun the supra off the line, and it will have decent highend, ( limiting factor is the boxy aerodynamics which really hurts it at 100+ mph ) and thats when the supra will past it. most japanese tuners who drags both the GT-R will almost always win the 1/4 mile. its when you get higher up there thats when the supra will overtake the GT-R for the reason above.

both machines are quit remarkable, both are very underrated. they have gotten stock R34's to dyno at over 300whp. so i would hardly ever believe in that 276bhp rating crap. just like how you guys can put down 280ish whp stock. they both take mods really well where a supra can get 450whp on just bolts ons and ECU tune. the GT-R can do similar. you ever heard of RAZORGTR? hes a GTR moderator that hangs out in the GT-R forums and also in street racing. his only spend around 3K in mods on his R32 GT-R and is running a 12.04 @ 115mph. hardly slow with sooo little invested. its also geared perfectly for the highway since older R32 and R33's were only 5 speeds. they can hit 120mph in 3rd!

now for the handling, the supra weights more then every GT-R. the heaviest GT-R weights 3500lbs which is the R34 GT-R. however the R34 has speed sensors on each corner and at the differentials that takes 1000 samples per second to caculate the tq split for the ATESSA ETS PRO ( skylines clever AWD system that i mentioned earlier that acts mostly like a RWD ). that along with the improved super hicas AWS which is quit different from the ones found on the Z32 300ZX TT, the versions found in the GT-R is not as twitchy since it has a slower ratio steering rack in the rear, and is completely computer controlled in the R34 series of GT-R's.

the RB26DETT is a master piece, it has 6 throttle bodies, and has variable cam timing. the engine is a undersquared engine so it has a stock 8000rpm redline. with the engine fully blue printed and balanced, it can have a limited of a 15000rpm redline!! it can even rev higher then stock 1000 cc sport bikes, a engine that has that kind of redline means it has a very flexable powerband at roadracing since you can stay in the gear much longer during a corner without having to stay at redline, or the need to downshift, this does not have the same effect as a F20c found in the S2000 where it lacks lowend torque. that is when the 9000 does sorta hurt it, but on the GT-R you get plenty of low end grunt and it has a extremely flexable powerband, so which is the better road racing engine? its also a very rugged engine, even though i must admit its not as rugged as a 2JZGTE but 600-900 whp is possible, even though the more common limit is around the 700whp range, which is plenty of power for a AWD. the main difference is that unlike the supra it can actually put down that 600whp off the line with alot less drama then a supra, esp if your running street tires.

this is my first time visiting the supra forums but i hope i have shed some light on the GT-R. since i am heavily baised towards nissan i will have to go with the GT-R. its more expensive then the supra if you import it here, but not by much, since i've seen used supra's go as high as 50 grand. and you just get sooo much more car. whether they are useful to you guys or not thats a different issue. but trust me i love supras, where i work i've seen plenty of 600whp supras, and it makes my 240 feel like a cheap toy, and in the states i would love to own a supra. but if i was to spend 50K i would get a R32 for 35K and spend the remaining money on making it quit a beast.

thanks for the comment redneck. and for those supra guys who says that a supra in its ultimate form can out handle a GT-R in its ultimate form. well from what i've read from another thread similar to this they bought the GT500 supra into this, and it has been beating hte GT-R in the JGTC. very true. however the GT500 supra is powered by a 4 cylinder ( 3SGTE ) so it can be placed closer to the center of the chassis. well the GT-R's for a while have been using RB26 engines, however they prohibit them from using the AWD system, because that GT-R obliterated the competition in the group A touring series becusae of it.
