Re: Throttle Body Spacer?

wally,
I put one on my 2000 Sil. 4.3, went on easily the only mod I had to do was take off the air muffler box.
Honestly, I didnt notice and more power or gas mileage improvements.

For what its worth.........

My '93 has a 5.7 and my buddys '94 has a 4.3. We both installed a throttle body spacer at the same time and were both impressed with the difference it made. Much more responsive and must have added at least 20 HP. Seems to work well on the '90s trucks. I have one on my 2000 Silverado 5.3 and I'm not convinced they do much for late model engines. There's my 2 cents, Mike

Re: Throttle Body Spacer?

Have any of those who claim to have more power actually had the vehicle put on a dyno before and after? 10, 15, 20 horse power from adding 1" of distance between the throttle body and intake I dought is really obtainable on a fuel injected engine. I've heard they do help on the old carburator engines though. I wouldn't waste the money to put one on a newer vehicle.

i've got one on my 2000 4.8L. Not too much difference...a little better throttle response, plus it makes a neat winding sound.

Re: Throttle Body Spacer?

I've got a poweraid spacer on my 92 350, and I believe it makes a difference. The truck has a much better throttle response and gets about a 1 mpg fuel mileage increase (consistently got 18 mpg before, now consistently gets 19 mpg).

I doubt it picked up 20 hp, maybe 3-5, but def. not 20! It is worth the extra gas mileage IMO. It was pretty easy to install, but you do have to remove the bracket on the bellhousing that holds the fuel lines in place and you do have to readjust your passing gear linkage.
