98 Grand wheel well rust

Obviously there are quite a few people who have the separated and rusting rear wheel wells, but has anyone actually attacked Chrysler about it and had it fixed? My owners manual says that the rust through warranty is 5 years, but I have heard from some people that they will cover it for up to 7. Our van is very well maintained and not abused in any way and now I have the very disappointing rotting wheel well, not exactly what I want on a vehicle that we still consider to be "new"

It only has 80,000 KMS on it.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
