Exclamation Awed

Okay, so this may sound a little silly, but I was awed about an hour ago by an MKIV Supra TT. It was shiny black, and even though it's got to be at least three or four years old, the thing looked brand spanking new (and beautiful, I might add). Lucky for me I was on a job sight adjacent to the Berlin Turnpike, the unofficial drag racing HQ in the Hartford, CT area. So I heard something fast coming down this stretch of road next to my job site. I turned around to see this Supra pulling through its gears up to, I'd say about 90 mph (it did not take long, and he was in fourth when he topped out, which tells me he was severely short-shifting). Saints be praised, I was lucky enough to get to see him pull off just past my job sight, make a left-handed U-turn, get back on the turnpike heading south, and see (and hear) him make another 90 mph pass. It really was amazing. I haven't seen a car go that fast (except on TV and the internet) in a long time. And what really shook me was the sound the car made. Honestly, all you heard was turbo. That's it. It was a very loud turbo noise (don't get me wrong), but it was nothing like either a four-cylinder with a big exhaust, nor did it sound even faintly like a domestic V8. It was a unique sound, which I won't soon forget.

To reference that old thread (Supra Turbo vs. Corvette Z06 http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...p?threadid=636), I just don't think I could ever get to feeling as excited by a V8-powered domestic as I did by this car.

Supra Wednesday

I meant to put this in my "weekend" thread, but it will fit nicely in yours. On Wednesday, I saw two MKIV Supras, one dark maroon, the other silver. They were going the other direction on surface streets, so they weren't performing spectacularly or anything, but it was enought to snap my rubber neck, twice. :flash:
