3rd gear grinding

hey guys my name is chris im new to the forums anyways i have a 91 integra ls....everytime i shift into 3rd gear and a high RPM my 3rd gear seems to grind...i mean i can shift but it makes that grinding noise only when i shift fast into 3rd gear at a higher rpm....any suggestions maybe???

Synchro's is worn, welcome to the club, it's very common in g2 tegs. You can get the synchro's replaced but it's just easier to get a used tranny. Or not drive it as hard.

yea im tryin to take it easy on 3rd gear....i just change the whole muffler system like 2 days ago...damn thing had so many holes from rust and everythin....changed spark plugs and wire and its never ran this fast before....so one thing at a time basically lol

yeah man im having the same problem. i hate it, but cant afford to get it fixed right now.

synchros. expensive. buy used LS tranny from an auto recycler. be thankful u dont have a 92 or 93 GS.

tru ok....i was going to put a short shifter on my car but im guessin that might make it worse...any ideas?

yep i'm in the club too. 3rd gear sux for me. i was racing this 3rd gen lude last night and could not get it to go into 3rd. pissed me off. i found a used tranny near me from a you pull it junkyard with 80k miles on it for only $250. a few bibles on the inside of the car so i know some bible grinder had it last and was not tearing the hell out of it. well, i hope not.
