2001 blazer endgate glass stuck closed?

I have a 2001 blazer LS that the endgate glass is stuck down, and I cannot figure out why. when I press either button the back makes all of the proper noises but the glass does not open- even with pulling. i also have tried the emergency latch under the carpet, but i cannot ge it open. Can someone help?

yep me too

mine is a 1997 and had the same problem. you will have to pry the back plastic off and the piece that triggers the release is made of plastic and more then likely is broken. I made a metal one and replace and it has been working for three years.

good luck

Re: 2001 blazer endgate glass stuck closed?

I had the same problem and yes it was the little plastic thing that triggers the release, I purchased one from the dealer it was like 80 bucks if I remember correctly. You do not have to take off the plastic to release the endgate. You can stick a screwdriver through the carpet at just the right spot and pry down the mettal tab that releases the end gate. The procedure should be explained in your owners manual. I don't think you can even remove the plastic without the tailgate down but I could be wrong. Once you have the tailgate down and the plastic off the problem will be apparent.
