Uneven wear pattern

I've noticed that one of my back tires has a patch about three inches wide going across the entire tread width that is almost completely bald, yet the rest of the tread is intact. The tire is old and needs replaced anyways, and the rim is slightly bent due to a mishap hitting a curb when skidding on an icy road. Would the bent rim or whell out of balance cause this, or could it be the shock absorber or something else? Thanks!

Yes, the bent rim could cause this.

If the spot is basically radially across the entire face of the tread, then that is it. This pattern could also be caused by a brake lock with the tread being ground off during the skid.

If there are several spots like this around the tire, then a bad shock is likely suspect.

However, if the worn spots are diagonal and repeated around the tire - some places more worn , some less - then the issue is rotation, and alignment.

Please note that low inflation pressures will aggravate any wear condition.
