Cracked bellhousing?

Ah! Today I was cleaning up my new(used) transmission, and my bellhousing has spider-web cracks all over it! Someone said that this is normal and it is just how these things were casted. Does anyone have any pictures or anything on how these should look? I mean, these are pretty deep cracks to be casted. They are on the inside of the bellhousing, and the outside (none of them go all the way through) it just seems like it would be too weak to handle any power from an engine..
Any input?
Thanks alot
-Scott

Re: Cracked bellhousing?

mine is pretty crazy looking on the inside... has always been that way. 11 years and nothing has cracked all the way through yet! That doesn't mean yours isn't in trouble... but yes, I think those cracks are normal. In fact, I never regarded them as real "cracks" because they do appear to have been made that way.

Ya I get the idea... that is very much how mine looks... except mine is much dirtier :P

I wouldn't worry much... unless something looks serious enough to go all the way through.

Mine aren't that deep... I would almost call them scratches... but they are small cracks

Re: Cracked bellhousing?

Alright, I just want to make sure that something that looks like that rough of a condition would be strong enough. It wont hurt to get it installed and see what happens.
Thanks
