custom carpet colors easy
i was recently looking for carpets for my cav. to match my custom interior and found them to be over $100. I decided to try doing it myself by buying some packaged dye and it came out like perfect looking like new after i put the carpet back in. I was thinking about doing it to my seats and was wondering if the die would run onto my clothes or bleed out into anything it touches. If anyone else tried this let me know how it came out so i don't make a mistake by dying it without knowing.
thanks |

Re: custom carpet colors easy
most of the dyes will fade and disapear if they get wet. I wouldnt recomend a dye unless it is specificaly made for carpet in a car

Re: custom carpet colors easy
You can get colorfast (non-bleeding) dyes for auto interior use. Some dyes made for clothing are also colorfast.

Re: custom carpet colors easy
i used the cheap die on the carpet and it looks really sharp. i did notice that if you rub your finger along it pretty hard some of the color does go on your finger. would the colorfast dye be able to be used on seats without bleeding into clothes? also, can it be applied diluted directly on the seats or do you have to take the covers off completely and wash them in it?
