Subs

Im Getting 3 Alpine Type R 12's for my 97 Cavalier Z24, i have to build a custom box, and id like to keep the whole system alpine, i need to know what amp from alpine would work the best, i was thinking of 3 200 watt mono sub amps, but im not sure if thats the best comco, because the head unit has this bass engine, and when it is wired with these alpine v12 amps i guess it rocks, someone let me know if they know nething about stereo equipment, im also getting the matching 6x9's and 5 1\4's for the doors, i thaught about 6 1/2's, but i didnt think they would fit, if neone knows if they would, let me know also, btw the subs have 300 watts RMS on them, if that helps any, thanx, CavZ24R

Alpine amps are not very efficent and are overrated so get amps rated at about 200 watts higher than they are rated if you want to run mono amps.In example is subs rated at 400 watts rms run amps rated at 600 rms.

I would power them with a class D amp ...... they are far more efficient and generally more powerful. Brand loyalty is no longer necessary (unless you are sponsored of course), so feel free to mix and match.

get the amp that im using. its a power machine!!!! the alpine v12 mrv-1507 it is a 2 channel amp and it peaks at 1500 watts. at the currnet time im pushin 2 eclipse 12" DVC aluminum subs, and they pound! although i need more electricity to the amp bcuz it drains on my battery and kills my alternator. The amp works great and i plan on gettin a second one for just runnin a set pf highs with 450 watts from each channel go to BA pro series components :-)

i think they meant spec-wise. which isn't entirely true. the 1507 puts out alot of power.
