02 Century trans problems

Is anyone else having problems with the trans slipping, shuddering, grinding or not shifting properly? My car has 43,xxx on it and I dropped the pan to find some rather large metal nuggets. Any suggestions on how to fight GM and Buick on this one? They have many service bulletins in regards to these problems. THANKS!!!

You just did the best thing for it! Get some new fluid and a new filter in that tranny, and you may even want to flush it.

Thats the same symptoms I had with my '00 Century. It only got worse and finally needed an overhaul ($1200) That fixed it for a while and now I have a PCS problem (See harsh shifting topic in Century forum). If you have any warranty coverage left exercise it now. Mine failed 1000 miles past the warranty. Hope you saved the metal nuggets to show the dealer.

Re: 02 Century trans problems

Metal chunks in the trans pan means it needs a rebuild!

Did you buy this car new or used? That makes a difference to GM! I would call the GM 1-800 number and talk with them do not demand they fix it for free! Do not get abusive with them because that will kill the deal. Offer to pay for part of the repair. Remember that if GM does anything it is goodwill they don't have to do it. mention you are planing on buying another GM in the future and that this decision will impact your decision. BTW you are not out of the realm of help on this problem talk kindly and it may get you somewhere.
