All lights ok but no brake lights.

Hello,
My 95 Jimmy has no brake lights. "All" the other lights work. I checked the bulbs first, they are ok. Then I checked the wiring and received no power from the wires that lead to the brake light bulbs even though I still have hazard lights. I do have power to the brake switch also. Could this be a problem with the hazard switch? I'm thinking that the brake switch wiring runs through the hazard switch before it continues to the rear of the truck.

Any suggestions?

Yes...it very very very posible it is the hazard switch...wiggle it and hold it forward then have some one check and see if anything starts to work

Good luck

before you go messing with the wiring, check the actual brake switch located on the brake pedal. It is possible that it may have went out or it may have just slipped off the pedal.

Re: All lights ok but no brake lights.

As we all know when it comes to electrical...It could be anything.
Of course you check your fuses, bulbs first...Then if no luck, check
your switch or wire at brake pedal. Last and wierd, but been found to be
true..that darn Hazzard switch. Before you get deep in a wire mess, it would not hurt to play with the hazzard switch while a second person checks to see if that does the trick. One guy said it was grease getting on the hazzard switch..it makes the contacts not work right...who knows..GOOD LUCK

just mentioned the fuses, as a week before i got the gm recall to get the hazzard switch changed out for the exact problem of no brake lites, and a possible fire in the steering column, i found that if you move the hazzard switch left/right, it would work, but as i did so, it blew a couple of fuses. i don't know how far back the recall goes, but if you truck is in it, it should be done free by any gm dealer. to check, got to the NHTSA web site, and they will list the recalls by make and year.
if you want to replace the bad hazzard switch, it is real easy, just pull lightly and steady, and the whole module will come out, and can be bought from a gm parts dealer, or on line.

good luck.
