about 5 months ago, i bought 4 new hankook ventus zr grade ultra high proformance tires and had an alinement, yeserday as i was changing my oil, i noticed that my left rear tire was completely bald on the inside and perfectly fine on the outside. but all of my other tires are fine... so what kind of service am i needing? can't be another alinement, cuz i had one 5 months ago... i also notice that the rear bar, part of the car's underbody frame that connects to the wheel is lower then the other side... does that mean one of my springs are bad? what does this all mean???!!! i'm putting so much freaking money into this car and i'm getting pretty annoyed it it. so far i spent 2k repairing it, and i only bought it for 3500...

From the sounds of it, when you had the tire balanced, they put the counter weights only on the inside of the rim. It does make for a cleaner look not being able to see the little weights, but it does lead to uneven wear on soft tires like that. Obviously, if you had a bad alignment, you’d get the same thing. In either case, new tires wearing out in 5 months is not normal.
Go to tirerack.com and you can do some price checking for your tires. I buy the Cooper 5000SP Zs myself. They’re inexpensive at $150 at tire or so and have good traction (not the best) but have excellent wear. Never pay again for live sex! | Hot girls doing naughty stuff for free! | Chat for free!

Balancing is when they spin the tire to make sure that there is no wobble. They use counter weights (those little bands on the edge of the rim) to keep it spinning smoothly. They can put it on the inside and outside of the rim. Putting it on one side can lead to uneven wear – not always, but its better to counterbalance on both sides as needed.
Alignment is to keep the tire perpendicular to the pavement and parallel with each other. If the tires are tilted or the tires are not square with each other, the ride will be rough and the tires will wear out very fast. Re: the f*ck happened?
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but you can tell if it's wheel bearing by the heat (by compairing, the temp of each wheel after a drive, test with your hand) Tire wear will create heat also, along with braking, but a bearing will burn your hand. Noise is your next sign, by then you might have to replace the spindle. Call a shop to get r&r prices. This was not that costly if you act soon, the heat is the killer. Let the forum know what the problem is so we can all benifit thanks John

Re: the f*ck happened?
balancing would be my best guess, cuz i had an alignment... but the rear frame bar is lower then one on the other side.. and that's what putting pressure on the bald side of the tire...

Re: the f*ck happened?
When they did the alignment were all 4 wheels aligned often when the wheels are out of balance you will get cupping~~~~ on the treds, if these tires are on the front you will get a shimmy at diferent speeds, if there on the rear you will get more of a vibration at different speeds. The heaver the car the more subtle the vibration. The 3k is a heavy car! I try to by my tires from a local tire shop, it cost a little more but he lets me trade in my old not so warn out tires. I also try to buy tires that he likes for my car & he has a good supply of used tires in stock in my size. He knows he is conpeating with the internet so he throws in balancing, & if you buy 4 he'l give you a free alignment. This a mom and pop shop not a national tire co. If I am not sure the problem is solved I will throw on a used tire and watch it closely. buy local act global

Re: the f*ck happened?
ok, i just had all four realigned again, tire kingdom told me that the rear tires are max out, which means that they were completely out of alignment.. but what could have caused it? it has only been 5 freaking months, and it was out of alignment for a while cuz the right side, the inside, of the tire is completely smooth going down to the inner wires.. but if both sides were out of alignment then why is the other side completely fine...? and when i drove it, there wasn't a little bit of vibration, it's alot.. the whole car shakes up and down when i'm around 60, but if i go faster, it lessons.. after the alignment, it shakes at different speeds, but i dont' know if it's cuz of the one bald tire... i won't know what it is until i but another tire.. and i'm getting the same one, Hankook Ventus k102 cuz the other three tires are still new.. it would look really odd with one miss matched tire..

Re: the f*ck happened?
Always get a 4-wheel alignment. Not all cars can be aligned this way, but you can get a thrust alignment which takes the rear wheels into account. Next, if the rear bar is lower on one side you may have bent suspension components which can affect your alignment. I don't think a bad bearing would cause wear so fast unless the wheel was about to fall off. Hopefully the shop fixed the problem but keep an eye out.

Re: the f*ck happened?
sorry you should get a alignment after the new tire or tires are put on. The vibration is most likely a ballence prob. Make sure the weights are on both sides of the rim. If you have the time , when your car is on the alignment rack go talk to the tech I'm not sure what maxed out means, no more camber ajustment can be made or somthing other...

another solution could possibly be a bad tie rod, those are pretty cheap to fix. A buddy of mine had a bad tie rod and one side of his tires were bald and the other side were fine
