Using clear silicone as a glue?
Had a brainstorm a minute ago about using clear silicone (used for sealing bathroom stalls, etc.) to 'glue' clear pieces onto a kit, such as headlights, windows, etc.
Has anybody used it before, and can tell me how this works if at all? I don't know what kind of chemical compounds it has, and wether it'll screw up clear plastics. And yeah - I know about Micro Krystal Klear already, but I'm not terribly impressed with it, so that's why I'm looking for a new idea.

mmmmmmmmmmmm sounds messy, I hate using that stuff even for its intended use. I am not sure but I would test it on a painted surface first to make sure there is no reaction.

Re: Using clear silicone as a glue?
Yeah, good idea - like on an old model where it doesn't matter, right
?About it being messy, I wouldn't be using it straight out of the tube, application with a toothpic would be the norm. |

my experience with the stuff is not good (thats only doing a bathroom though). either way, you will probably have a little bit of excess oozing out of somewhere. wiping it off will only smear it...then its down to white spirit (or maybe wd-40) to try and get rid of the residue. it just seems too much hassle. i stick to elmers white glue personally.
why dont you have a go and let us know how you found it. i would certainly be very interested if it works

Probably work quite well provided it doesnt attack paint or plastic.Reckon youd never get the window out again once its in there though.
