89 Thunderbird will not start when hot
I just got an 89 Thunderbird SC 3.8L it starts fine in the morning but I have to keep my foot on the gas till it warms up, after that it runs like new, sometimes it idles high and don't want to idle down, if I cut the engine off it will not start again till it's cool down again like a cold start. When it idles high I unplug the air flow sensor and it idles fine, when I plug it back in it idles high again........please help

I would start of cheap and go with a tps throttle position sensor. Thats what it sounds like the throttle and the computer are not getting eachothers point across..

Re: 89 Thunderbird will not start when hot
First thing to do about your starting problem is to remove and clean all connections at the battery, starter and ground. If you have battery cables that were made by bolting a connector on the end of a cable then get rid of them and put on correct length one piece cables. While the cables are off of the battery have it load tested at your parts supplier. If you do the above and it still won't start when hot, replace the starter.

Battery is fine, wires are fine, it turns over ans starts when engine is cool down. I changed, 02 sensor, TPS, Massflow sensor, the sensor on the intercooler for the supercharger and the sensor that is on the manifolds and still will not start. I can drive the car but if I cut it off it will not start till is cool down.

Re: 89 Thunderbird will not start when hot
As I said in the last post-if you did the above and it still won't start, replace the starter! The starter gets hot from the engine temp while it is running and in simple terms becomes a higher resistance and the battery can't supply enough current to spin it over.
