Goodrich T/A Scorchers...
I just had some Scorchers put on my car, mainly cause they do reduce road noise. But these tires feel the road more than any other I've ever had. I'm runing 205-40-17s and was just shocked @ how much more they want to move around especially on freeways with the lines down them. You know the concrete ones raked for like watter or something? They like want to wiggle back and forth quickly, makes for a wierd feeling, but it goes away as soon as you hit regular black highway or roads??? Has anyone else noticed this?

Higher performance tires tend to follow ruts, crevices etc in the road because the softer rubber combined with the stiffer sidewall transfers road imperfections back to the wheel.
Generally the higher the caliber of performance tire, the more this tires want to "tramline" To minimize tramlining reduce your air pressure but do not go below factory recommendations as this will reduce the "reverse" steer effect. |

Also the continuous center ribs in the Scorcher and similarly designed tires tend to tramline worse because the rib(s) is always in contact with pavement whereas a tread with a more blocky design has breaks.

Thanks for the good info.
So how well do these tires do in the wet? Just curious, but it's not like we have to worry much about that in Phoenix AZ |

They're pretty decent in the wet.

I've got 275/40-17 F - 285/40-17 R tires on my Z28, and you should see what its like to pilot THOSE things with one hand (on an already heavy Camaro steering wheel) through a highly frequented tractor trailor road! Depending on how deep the grooves in the road are, my left hand (which grips the wheel dead center) will pull to like 10 & 2 - looks to other people like I'm screwing around or losing control of the car! |

tires
i just had goodrich lt 245 /75 16 for my chevy truck removed brand new. i know what you are talking about. its a wonder i did not wreck with these goodrich tires on. my god, they almost threw me into the bridge railings following the concrete. also they bounced like basketballs on front. i put michelins on today and what a difference. goodyear tires suck to ,trust me.
