Hey everyone. i need help with my Focus 2000 SE. the car stalls sometimes when i brake and come to a complete stop. the car jerks forward and then after maybe 10 seconds of shaking the car some times stalls. my friend told me that maybe it there is a leak in the vacuum and told me to get carb. cleaner and spray it on all of the hoses to c found out which hoses has a hole in it. i did just that but did not find any hole in the hoses.
i also went to autozone and got my codes pulled out and they said that there is something wrong with the catalyast and cylinder 1 miss fired. i am not sure if that has to do anything with the stalling though. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

Re: Engine Stalls when braking
Check your brake lights, I bet they don't work.
Your issue is the Lock-UP torque converter is not un-locking when you depress the brakes (or let up on the accelerator), which it SHOULD DO. Check you fuses first, then the "BOO" (brake on-off) switch on the pedal under the dash. Sometimes the wire breaks at the switch connector. |
