The anarchists were among 25,000 mainly peaceful anti-capitalist protesters who marched in late afternoon through Thessaloniki's centre, about 80 km (50 miles) west of where a European Union summit ended earlier in the day.

"They threw petrol bombs into the McDonald's and planted anarchist black flags on the footpath outside,'' Reuters correspondent Phillip Pangalos said. ``Others attacked nearby shops with axes and sticks.''

The problem with "anarchism" is that it relies (supposedly) on the idea that everybody has to take responsibility for themselves and act wisely... These "anarchists" just proved why that idea will never work because many (but not all) of the people who support it for the most part do not make responsible choices on their own part - and are incapable of living with only themselves to govern them.

These people aren't anarchists,they are simply vandals.The whole anti-capitalism falls flat on its face when you ask people to come up with a workable alternative.

I have a workable alternative. First we discard all currency. Then everybody is supplied with self-maintaining robots that take care of everything.

A small number of people tend to use the cause as an excuse to fight with the police.Mostly,they just bash out their 'money is evil' routine,and go home quietly afterwards.
