380sl noise in dash

I have a loud whistling noise in the dash of my 1983 MB 380SL. It could be a vacuum leak because it will quiet down when I accelerate, and seems to be related to the climate control. Sometimes it won't make the noise, and then if I adjust the temperature from warm to cold, it will start making the noise. Any idea what I should look for first.
