SOHC VTEC standard?

im pretty sure im going to buy a standard hatch and i'm lookin at this d16z6 to put in it. i am going to have a 89 crx si tranny and ecu. here's the questions, 1st. wiring. can i get the enitire wiring harness, from ecu to engine bay to engine, and from the ecu into the dash, thats right i think. i want to use a si gauge cluster. would that work? also i would be getting all this from a different car than the ecu, would that matter? next question. i think i heard something about the hubs or something being different on the standard, will the si axles work on the standard, or what?las question. how can i hook vtec up till i get my zdyne ecu? thanx everyone in advance

1st of all, you dont have to swap the entire wiring harness.. it is more of a pain in the ass than its worth. If i were you, i would do a search for "MPFI SWAP" on this board and you will probably find about 20 pages of useful information on the wiring.

Secondly, An Si gauge cluster will bolt rigth in, no wiring changes needed, provided that it is from the same 2 year period as your car (88-89 are compatible, and 90-91 are compatible).

Third, you will need the Si hubs to use with the axles.

The cheapest way to hook up VTEC would be with a simple toggle switch running to the vtec selenoid. this is way ghetto and i would recommend ATLEAST an rpm activated switch. It will come with instructions on how to hook it up, make sure you get the relay as well.

This is a very easy swap and you should be happy with the power increase. feel free to ask any questions as im sure 10 people or more on this board have done this swap.

well you seem to know what your talking about and im kinda tired of searching and not finding what i need so. this is what im getting a complete d16z6, 89 si tranny, 89 si ecu, and a running standard. so what your telling me is that i can modify my std harness to work with the mpfi correct? if so can you send me a link to the complete wiring conversion? also what i have found is that i will have to use a si intake mani if im using the si ecu, is that true? and about the gauge cluster, what about the tach, is how will the tach work if there isnt a tach for th std? thnax for the help.
