93 JGC Limited Clock module box

Anyone know of a place to fix or that sells the clock/4x4 mode/door ajar sensor/ and a whole bunch of other stuff. This is computer board box above the ashtray and the dealer wants $1040 for it.DAMN I LOVE MY JEEP but come on. I know it's fried because I saw a puff of smoke and smelled the "electrical" I am also now experiencing many electrical oddities like radio wont work with doors open. Dome lights glow dim with door closed and overhead console lights pushed. Heater fan slows down and temp display also dims. This is is just a few but it's messed up. Other than that it runs great. . Anyone want to trade a "parts" GCJ Limited for an 85 Caddy Coupe DeVille?

Are you sure the smoke was coming from the Vehicle Information Center and not from the wire behind it?

Oh yes, I'm quite sure... I had the box out of the dash but still plugged in when it happened. That's not my biggest concern anymore but the electrical problems are... Very annoying.

Re: 93 JGC Limited Clock module box

Have you checked any local salvage yards. I woulldn't get one from the dealership especially for that price you could easily get one used for around $75 (i would say). I need a new HVAC Control Unit with ATC and the dealership wanted $750 for one so I called one of my local yards and got one for $65

Re: 93 JGC Limited Clock module box

Thanks for the idea teemsta. Found 1 cheap. Completley spaced the E-bay thing.
Any good reason why the factory alarm would all of a sudden, decide after 2 years of not being used, it was going to arm itself? I have no remotes for this thing and it would not disarm with the keys in the door or ignition. What a pain that was. Tore the friggin thing apart to find the VTSS module but that didn't work. The truck went into shut off mode and thereby wouldn't stay running. Finally after "searching the web and ripping apart the dash trying to get to this damn module... all I had to do was ground out the Purple w/yellow wire in the drivers door and low and behold, It runs again. but the VTSS is now COMPLETLEY disabled because it's not going to do that to me again. Module DISCONNECTED which by the way, is BEHIND and under the glove box. No way to get to it without pulling off the dash pad and center trim either.
To my poor Jeep: Thanks for leaving me stranded in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I'll put ya back together tomorrow!!! It must be a Jeep thing... cuz I still love it!

Re: 93 JGC Limited Clock module box

2 yrs ago my info center fried too 4 no apparent reason. Same smell, same puff of smoke. I wanted to get rid of the jeep too but still have it. My electricals also went wacko but on inspection i had a blown fuse. This caused my interior lights to stay on, AC on without being switched on,and security flashing. Changed the fuse and everything back to normal. Check those fuses on the side panel, the one u see when u open the passenger door. to this day i have not replaced the vic, but have it discoed jus to fill the space.

Re: 93 JGC Limited Clock module box

Well after I put my whole dash and overhead console back together, all is ok EXCEPT: front overhead lights... I push one and both come on dim Push both and it stays the same. The back overhead lights work just fine. Anyone have a scan of the fuse box information? That would be awesome
