06 CV long crank time only after refueling

Please help....I am a chevy tech at a dealership. I have been brought a 2006 crown vic interceptor from our sheriffs dept. After refueling the vehicle, it takes an extremely long cranking period to get it to start. It usually has to start and die a few times before it will stay running. The fuel pressure is within ford specs and it has no codes in it. The vehicle has no alternative type fuel system on it, Just a regular 4.6 (w) Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

What are the O2 sensors reading at startup? It may be too rich at start up causing the long crank times. Long shot might be evap system allowing fuel to enter on start up. Post back readings if you can. LTFT both banks. O2 readings, anything that may be related to running rich or very lean. Also look at the iidle speed motor.

Have a 2005. Had the same problem for a long time after purchase. Found that holing the accelerator to the floor while starting like a flooded carb would start it right up. Might have to start more than once but revving a bit above idle would usually stop that. Quit doing that after a number of miles.

Do you know what 3 sets of five beeps might mean after every start.

Sets of 5 beeps usually indicates a fault with the airbag system. The light on the dash will flash a sequence of times, i.e. one flash pause 8 flashes pause indicates a code 18. You can then look up that number on line to see what the issue is. It might be something as simple as the pass indicator light being burned out.
