Starting problem

Hi all, New here but just wondered if someone might be able to help. I live in South France and have a 1996 Seat Cordoba 1.4. Just recently it has developed a problem starting. It doesnt happen all the time. Hot or cold, sometimes I turn the key, the car fires up for a second then cuts out. It might do this once or twenty times but eventually it starts. I have a long trip to Uk planned in Dec and want to try to sort it by then. Can anyone help?

Maybe you have problem with the fuel which is koming to the engine it is not enough or something like that.
