history of the Fiat 132
In 1972, Fiat launched a new sedan, the 132 Mk1, which was a little disappointing. Yet, it introduced the 1.8 version of the Twin-Cam engine designed by lampredi, but its suspension (rear dead axle) was already outtdated by that of the 1968 Peugeot 504.
It soon underwent a restyling : in 1974, it recieved wider windshield and windows, a nose job and a new rear with rectangular lamps. Its suspension became milder : the time of maturity. 3 engines were available : -1.6/98 hp -1.8/111 hp -2.0/115 hp and 2 trims : GL and GLS. As for the transmission, one could choose between a 3-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual. To be followed...
