Stubborn ink marks on inside of door

Hi, my one son decided one day that it would be funny to draw on his door’s arm rest with the ballpoint pen that he got out of his backpack. He only got small line and the start of a small box drawn in the faux leather arm reat of my 2020 Subaru Forester premium. I tried almost everything that Google suggested to get the ink out (except hair spray) and nothing worked. Now that area feels smooth to the touch and looks glossy, compared to how it originally was, though nothing else seems to be wrong with it, other than the pen ink marks are still there. Is there anyway to get ride of the glossy look and restore the texture to match the rest of the door’s arm rest. I heard that leather conditioner might work, is that true? I’ve been looking at Jay Leno's Garage Leather Conditioner as my local Walmart has that and at a good price.
