17 Acadia transmission or instrument panel question
My wife was driving our 2017 Acadia AWD Limited, today. She called me and said that twice the car started dinging at her, while driving. Once she got to her destination, she put it in park, left the vehicle running, and then shifted back to drive and drove home. She did not experience it on the way home. She said it was kind of similar to a door being partially ajar, but it didn't indicate that a door was ajar in the instrument panel. She said otherwise it seemed to drive ok. I had her send me a picture of the instrument panel, which is attached. I have never seen it look like this before. I did some searching and could not find anything. Any idea what this is?

Re: 17 Acadia transmission or instrument panel question
I should have specified. As you can see in the picture, it displays "I S D L" in an odd format. Under normal circumstances, it should show "P R N D L" in a row.

Anything in the Owner's Manual about that display?
If not, I'd guess a loose connection under the dash.

Re: 17 Acadia transmission or instrument panel question
That photo is a good clue. It appears that the cluster DIC display itself is failing or the cluster is losing communication with the CAN bus to retrieve information, but those are just guesses.

Re: 17 Acadia transmission or instrument panel question
I don't think driving down the road you'll see P R N D L. Thought that shows when parked. Before I would worst case it, I would start it up and go through the DIC settings. There are lots of different ones. The "D" in a square just tells me it's in Drive. The others, owners manual. But that's why I said go through the settings, ie different modes etc.

Re: 17 Acadia transmission or instrument panel question
Attached is a picture of it driving normally. Note the typical "PRNDL." I went through the manual once. I'll do it again, and advise.

Re: 17 Acadia transmission or instrument panel question
Does the display change if the panel lights are on? How about if the panel lights are dimmed?

Re: 17 Acadia transmission or instrument panel question
So, thus far, this has only happened the one time. That time, my wife was driving. Consequently, I do not know if dimming would effect it. Due to the fact that it has happened only once, I am going to assume it probably was a momentary loose connection or something like that. Thank you everyone for assisting with ideas. Sorry we never figured it out.

Re: 17 Acadia transmission or instrument panel question
I had a similar event in my 2017 acadia, seems a low coolant level confused the computer, brought it up to level hasn't had a problem in weeks of driving. good luck
