67 chevelle, tire size

I'm shopping for new wheels/tires for my 67' and I'm looking for the largest combo I can get without any body mods... the stance of my car is level which I'm very fond of so I want to keep the same size front and back...
I'm interested in a modified version of rally wheels... any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Re: 67 chevelle, tire size

Depending on the variant, original sizes could have been F78-14 to G70-14. Get a modern tire/wheel combination with a similar section width and O.D., and all should be good.

The originals are probably 26 to 26½" overall. That would permit up to a 245/50-17 or close to that so long as the width did not create interference.

I am not aware of anyone who catalogs the size of fenderwells to determine the biggest tire/wheel combination that fit without rubbing.

So your best bet is to find a website devoted to your car and ask there. Perhaps someone has done the trial and fit work to answer your question.
