My 97V8 bird is a blast....for like 14 g's , its worth it , so much more fun then a V6, if you get the LT1 you will be happier. on the v6 you will most likely blow the head gasket within 110 k miles. if you have an oil leak check oil pan, valve covers, crank and pinion seals. check if the gears whine to check for a bad DIF gear box. see if it overheats, check for any strange noises like ticking or or bell like sound in the engine. Also check the exhaust for a blue tinge or real white tinge. If you check the ECM you can see what problems the car may have had and still has after the battery may have been disconected to hide a check engine light. Change the oil and filter every 3 k miles and check your collant level. there is a choke vavle on the upper radiator pump leading to the thermostat housing...to get bubbles out of your radiator lossen the screw while the engie is runnin but not to much only a little!! This will cause better flow of collant and proper use of the radiator cap venting (RT) recovery tank presure.
