First off, 2.5 sec. for the Speed 12 is a very good estimate based on the math. It has 940+ bhp, and weighs just over 1 ton. Just by looking at other cars with similar numbers they all have 0-60 times around 2.4-3.0 sec. 0-60 times.
I also have a friend who is his Senior year of college studying to be a Mechanical Engineer. One of the classes he has been taking this year is Principals of Automotive Racing. The college he attends has the best automotive simulator in the world, and he got the equation used in the simulator to figure out 0-60 times. The time he got using that equation was 2.42 sec. He got that by pluging in the numbers that TVR has stated themselves, Weight 1150kg and 940 bhp @ 7200 RPM and 660ft lb @ 5700 RPM. He then entered estimates for the numbers he didn't have for things like traction, and amount of power lost through the drivetrain, and power at other areas in the power band.(He got the peak torque figure by adding the torque of the two straight sixes that make up the engine). He told me that the numbers he entered were on the side of caution, and that it may be faster than this.
Since this car has never been tested and likely never will be tested, we will never realy know for sure what it is capable of doing. I dream of TVR some day pulling this car out of it's coffin. Of them turning its 7.7 liter V12, 940+ bhp engine back to life. Then they go off and destroy every record out there for street cars, not just production, but street legal cars of all types.
