building motor
Well, yesterday, I got the motor out and pulled apart. Everything looks good excluding the bearings. So, talking to some local people about building the Y8 conservatively for reliability, affordibility, and kickassability and we decide that the Y8 with A6 pistons would be a nice combo. This will give me 10.3:1 compression and then I can mill the head .002 and achieve closer to 11.0:1 compression for a pretty peppy motor. I am gonna do some port and polish on the head and intake manifold while it's out. That is about all I am gonna do. I was gonna build it forged and blockguard and yadda yadda but the money spent on that can buy me a nice B16 swap so that is probably not too far down the road. The D16 can be used as a backup motor or sold for some $$$. So, wish me luck.
