Nevermind about the gun... My dad told me a story about how a guy was constantly breaking into his friend's garage (I mean like a profesional shop too). So the guy was sleeping his garage in a sleeping bag after like the 4th time (much like your scenario) and the burglar climbed in the window but wasn't all the way in and the guy that owned the garage SHOT the burglar with a .45! Needless to say, that is a big bullet and knocked the guy out the window. So the guy ended up getting away and SUED the owner. The lawsuit went through and the liberal judge went through with the suit... The guy lost a lot of money... This was in 1959...
Another story: A man walked up to my father's friend's back and said "I have a gun, give me all of your money or I will shoot you". So the guy that was getting robbed turned around and shot him in the stomach... The criminal sued and won, and guy that shot him lost his job. A cop later told him he should have killed him so he didn't sue... This was in 1968, think of today with the MORE liberal judges...

These are both true stories. The men are not in contact with my father, but it just goes to show you. GET A COP TO MONITOR YOUR DRIVEWAY! LET THEM SHOOT AT THE PERPETRATORS! hahaha
