The idea of leaving the paint to harden is because clearcoating will soften the colour paint and make it gas even more. This can then lead to the clear cracking or the paint staying to soft for weeks and weeks.

So it's definatly best to wait a month/couple of months before clearcoating then? I'm hoping modelcrafts and hobbies are open tomorrow morning so I can get some, although I think it might be better if I buy the clear in a month so I'm not tempted to use it too soon
