We're not even looking quite at the reality of this situation . . .
For all intents and purposes, Americans ARE enemies of the Iraqi people.
There is no other way to look at it, regardless of the motives of this war (which are still largely debately, and quite flexible apparently), once a decision is made to DECLARE war, mutual enemies is the only result.
Now, don't get me wrong, it is clear that there were some Iraqi's that were happy to have us invading their country, but that has only made me wonder about exactly WHO these happy people were.
Firstly, we all know that several of the Iraqis had fled across the borders into other countries LONG before the first air strikes occurred, so . . . how many people do you really think were left to give ANY opinion about Americans, and exactly WHO were they?
Perhaps it was the people that were too poor to leave (?), too sick (?), or prisoners (?). These are the people who in ANY society or country are unhappy with their present government or economy, or healthcare system. These people no doubt had dreams about the great capitalist America that was coming to "save" them from the "monster", Hussein.
But not all of the people that were left behind were happy to see us . . . the rest walked straight into US soldiers until the guns started firing, they strapped themselves full of explosives, and tried to get into army camps . . . they are killing themselves.
So, of course . . . the Iraqi's that remain imagined that they were going to enjoy some euphoric conditions . . . but the reality is much different than what they expected.
I'm sure they wish they had left when they had the chance . . .
This my friends, is the reality of war . . . right or wrong.
