Ummm...FWD is fine for lots of things (handling in snow/gravel/rain being one of them) so that point is pretty much irrelevant. All of the cars you mentioned - Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, BMW - are hardly cars marketed against ANYTHING made by Honda, matter of fact, every last one of them costs at least $10,000 more than anything made by Honda. (By the way, I don't drive a Honda.) Last I checked, drivetrain was not the only standard by which a car can be judged. Also, you're going on and on about your gas mileage - which is about the same as that of the Civic and Sentra - but of course, none of those cars by Merc, Porsche, BMW, Ferrari get anywhere near that mileage, or have a warranty anywhere near that long. I guess that makes them crap? I don't know. Altogether, your post doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

That having been said, thanks to Hudson, I have been rethinking my stance on the Kia Optima. I still don't like the name, but I will admit that the car has a lot of looks and features for the money. I haven't driven one either- but there are a lot of cars I haven't driven, and there'll be time for that later. The crash-test scores aren't quite where I'd like to see them, but I looked through Kia's vehicles and they have been making a progressive improvement in occupant safety. The Sedona, for example, fares very well in the frontal-offset test conducted by the IIHS (www.hwysafety.org). Unfortunately the bumper tests caused significant amounts of damage, but Nissan had this problem with the 1995-1996 Maxima and successfully reinforced the bumpers to make them much less susceptible by the 1997 model year.

Why did I rethink this whole anti-Kia thing? Well, I realized that part of the reason I disliked Kias was because it's kind of popular to do so, and that's a dumb reason to do anything.
