I's stay away from the vert myself. Heavier, too much body flex, and not as safe to race (not to mention the added you follow a different set of rules when drag racing). But it all really depends if your want a to race the car, show the car, or just cruise the car?
I think I might go with the 87 T-top car, after close inspection that is. Checking to see if the top leaked, how the tracks looks, if rusted or what not. If it were a prob I'd go with the other 87.
Don't let anyone fool you, you can run 12's in a speed density car no prob. Seen it done, so you don't need mass air. But you can add it no prob if you plan on using that monster 347!
Also, I prefer the 87-89 because of the interior styling better. No airbags, no rear shoulder belts (come on I don't think I have used my rear seats for passengers more then twice). You have tilt wheel, etc., etc.
Ultimately its up to you on you personally preference. After looking at the mileage of the cars, who owned them and how they were driven would all be deciding factors in my choice.
