I heard that if you lower a car the ride becomes really stiff. But I was also told if you buy the coilovers and shocks and everything then you would have a lowered car but with a ride almost that of stock. Is that true?
Shocks and struts are dampers. They damp the oscillations of the springs.

What most people think of as a stiff ride in a lowered car is the car bottoming due to springs that don't have a high enough weight to keep the car off the bumpstops. This can be combated by using short body dampers that retain the stock suspension travel (or at least have more travel).

You cannot get a stock ride, but you can get pretty close. I am running 275# front and 200# rear springs with KYB AGX. It's a pretty good ride. I think with Konis I'd have a ride that is pretty near stock.
