Make the car look as clean as possible.
TIP: take tire foam and spray down the motor, especially the rubber hoses and vaccuum lines and any black plastic. also use it in the wheel wells and under the car and on the wheels. when the foam dissolves just soak up the puddles with a rag, and poof! looks brand new! do this when the motor is cold.
TIP: vaccuum the interior like crazy, and brush the carpet with a nice stiff brush. Use some vinyl dressing on the dash, make it look nice and clean. VERY IMPORTANT, clean the door jams! people notice dirty door jams.
TIP: if the car smells on the inside , like it might have had a water leak or just smells old inside. get some liquid air freshener, and spray some on the carpet and spray some in the vents. use the whole bottle if you have to.(DO NOT POUR IT IN THE VENT) then crank up the heat! now it smells spring time fresh.
TIP: always ask at least $500 more than what you really want to get for the car. This way if they talk you down, you will still get what you wanted for the car.

you could add at least $400-$600 more above your asking price for doing this. and in most cases you would get it.
Hope this helps your sale, GOOD LUCK!
