This is the Nissan Skyline R32 GTR, as launched in 1989, it immediately won praise by motorsports enthusiasts. The Skyline is powered by a race-designed 2.6 litre in-line 6 cylinder engine equipped with two ceramic turbochargers and intercoolers producing 280 bhp. It has a variable torque-split 4-wheel-drive train and a 4-wheel-steering system. The racing version of this car recorded countless victories
The R32 GT-R (Godzilla as it was/is affectionately known) was THE car that pissed off the narrow-minded majority of motor racing fans here in Australia so much that the rule books were written to outlaw them and replace them with V8 engined, bewinged family sedans. This car was totally dominant during the 1991 season, winning virtually every race in the Australian touring car championship. In 1992, in response to cries of slowing the GT-Rs down, they were nobbled with both extra weight and turbo boost limits. THEY STILL WON!!! The R32 GT-R's 1991 victory at the summit of Australian motor racing, the Bathurst 1000, was the first by a Japanese car. To this day, it holds the record for winning the Bathurst 1000 in the shortest period of time. The GT-R also won the Bathurst 1000 the following year to the cries of people shouting "We want V8s back!". You may be long gone from Australian motor racing circuits Godzilla, but your legend will never, ever be forgotten!!"
