System fan right here. I voted
HELL YEA, but my true opinion of them falls in between that and
They're Ok. My only real problem with them is that they got just a little too big with
Toxicity, and a band getting too big is sort of like the kiss of death. And, they did lose a little of the raw edge that they had on the first album. Unlike most of their newer fans, who were hooked by
Chop Suey, I was hooked by
Sugar a while back. The stuff off
Toxicity is great, but it just doesn't rock the same way, IMO.
As for the vocals and lyrics, I have a good friend who also can't stand them either, merely because of Serj's voice. It just doesn't sit with some people. I also know someone who doesn't like their music, or metal in general, but likes
System because of Serj's voice. For the record, I too love the dynamcs of his voice. And, if you really think the lyrics are typical or nonsense, then I can say from an almost objective perspective that you are simply not giving them enough of a chance.
As for the quality of the band's live performance, I have seen them twice now (
Pledge of Allegiance, October 2001, Hartford Civic Center, and
Ozz Fest, July 2002, Meadows Music Theater), and I assert that they are among the best in live performances of the genre today. From the consistency with their recorded tracks, to the solos they pull out for live shows, they do put on an entertaining set.

Wow. I'm impressed that some of you know
Dropkick Murphy's. I'm not a big fan myself, but I have a friend who is. And the band, despite the fact that one of their posters makes a "cameo" in a
Papa Roach video, is mostly underground.
